Who we are

Owen Sound Harvest For Hunger is a project of Owen Sound Alliance Church. Harvest For Hunger encompasses pooled resources, both human and financial, working collaboratively together in a Christian response to global hunger. A donation of just $150, when matched by the Government will feed a family of five for a year in sub-Saharan Africa. Supported by the Foodgrains Bank and the Government of Canada, Harvest For Hunger, together with its gracious supporters, aims to end hunger in 40 countries around the world.

2024 Fall Day at the Farm Results!

We are thrilled to report on another very successful year for our Food grains project. Fall Day at the Farm was held on September 28, with beautiful weather and a large crowd in attendance for this by-donation event. Families came to pick their own pumpkins and get corn stalks for decorating. There were multiple activities for children including a giant sand pile, barrel train, bouncy cow, face painting, archery tag, etc. Horse and wagon rides were kept busy. People could check out the corn maze, sit and listen to music, as well as enjoy the barbeque and homemade pie. Demonstrations were performed by the InterTownship Fire Department.

Approximately 22 acres of soybeans were once again grown by the Torrie and Parkin families. In addition to the funds raised from the crops, money raised from the event, donations throughout the year, and our wonderful sponsors, we were able to send $45,327 to Canadian Foodgrains to assist those in need!

These funds will continue to provide food assistance in Yemen, feeding families who are internally displaced due to the ongoing conflict there. Money used for food assistance is matched 4:1 by the Canadian government, making a significant impact. The funds will also be used for a multi-year Agricultural and Livelihood project in Niger, that will impact 15,120 households over a three year period through enhancement of agricultural productivity and diversification of livelihood options in seven villages. Money used for this is matched 2:1 by the government.

Since this project was initiated in 2015, it has raised over $327,000 to assist those less fortunate. May the Lord bless those who deliver, as well as those who receive the gift of food and knowledge provided by this project. Thank you to everyone who supports this project in any way!
